Bobby Collins

August 10

Bobby Collins is always the funniest guy in the room. With more than 200 stand-up performances around the country each year, he is a show-business institution who has made millions laugh.   A native of New York, he was literally born into comedy when his father named him for his favorite comedian, Bob Hope. In the 1980s, Bobby left a lucrative position as vice president of Calvin Klein to pursue his dream and ended up working alongside such comedy legends as Jerry Seinfeld and Jay Leno.

Gilbert Gottfried @ The Stanhope House

November 30

At the young age of 15, Gilbert Gottfried began doing stand-up at open mic nights in New York City and, after a few short years, became known around town as “the comedian’s comedian.” After spending several years mastering the art of stand-up comedy, producers of the legendary NBC late night comedy show “Saturday Night Live” became aware of Gottfried and, in 1980, hired him as a cast member. It wasn't until a few years later when his true notoriety would begin when MTV hired him for a series of improvised and hilarious promos for the newly formed channel.

Howard Stern's News boy Shuli Egar and James Mattern at The Stanhope House

March 8

It’s a long way from Sin City to the Big Apple, but one simple phone call transported a then-regional comic named Shuli (one word like Madonna and Cher) to the national spotlight. Born in Israel and raised in the hell-on-Earth known as the Los Angeles Valley, Shuli began listening to the world’s greatest radio program, “The Howard Stern Show” in middle school and told his father one day he’d work for the King of All Media.

Jackie 'The Joke Man' Martling at The Stanhope House

May 3

What can we say about the legendary "Joke Man?" He is a true original. Jackie “The Joke Man” Martling was one of the pioneers of the emerging Long Island comedy scene of the 1970's that spawned such other luminaries as Eddie Murphy and Rosie O'Donnell. One of the most popular club acts on Long Island soon brought his unique brand of good time, party atmosphere joke telling to clubs around the nation and was an instant success.
